Hello Everyone.
Welcome to a slightly overdue Captain’s Log.
Well, firstly I wanted to welcome all the new members that I haven’t yet welcomed. We are now 75 strong and growing. This is thanks to the efforts of the Senior Officers, placing the cards and posters where you obviously found them. I also wanted to mention that it's really nice to see that the members are wide ranging, of all ages and a mix of both sexes (see Trek fandom definitely isn't just a Male thing!!)
The site is growing in popularity and the forum appears to be going down a storm. You can thank Sharron (Starbuck) for convincing me to add it to the site. Never forget, this is your club and all suggestions are always welcome. We are a club run by fans, for the fans.
The countdown is on for our first Mini-Con and the interest has been phenomenal and no doubt it will be a roaring success. That's all down to you and not forgetting those who have done all the organising in the background. The Senior Officers, I can tell you are all working really hard to sort out those last minute things but we are pretty much ready. Due to the increase in attendees, we are re-planning certain aspects - it looks like we'll have to double the size of the video room and we're completely changing the format of the quiz on a larger scale. I think you'll really enjoy it.
It would be great if we could get a celebrity to open the proceedings, but unfortunately it's not been possible but there will be a host from a local radio station present so please don’t be shy if you are stopped for an interview.
The raffle will have a great mix of prizes for the newer fans and the die-hard older fans alike. Don't forget, the more raffle tickets we sell on the day, the more we'll have to spend on even better prizes next time. Also, we'll be holding a charity auction for an item which has been donated by a member. If you also have any Trek related items which you'd like to donate for the charity auction, just give me a shout.
Also, if there are any writers in you, then please feel free to mail me any articles you would like published. It’s your site and your right! It goes without saying, keep them clean.
Lastly, just to give you an early heads up, we're looking at holding a Christmas meal at a restaurant in Manchester City Centre. Date and venue is still to be decided but I'll give everyone more details at the November Mini-Con.
Right, that’s it from me. Until the next time…..
Thanks again for all your support.
Best Regards
Captain Simon Hodgkinson - U.S.S. Phoenix
